The End of the Year Poem
Catch my salty tears of sarcasm melted
In the biggest stainless steel bucket in your life
Shine it and polish it as others look on in wonder
Stair-stepping words, careless hatred
Month after month of moth-eaten promises
Old and worn, tattered and torn up
I kick them to the curb of reality
The infected state of mind that runs me stuns me
Squeeze my hand, my bruised hand
My easily provoked gag reflex flexes
And the sight of you after all this time
Is too much for my stomach to feel
To take to make to love and hope for
One more cigarette couldn’t hurt my feelings
But the way you ignore my love is bad
And the way you disregard the times we had
So I can sleep again, for He has bought me
And I don’t have to listen to your ill-fated insults
Your thick skin and your public venue
Will cry and die as my song continues
Caffeine free love for this planet
As I bring you words that understand mankind
And you scream “at last” and I agree with you
As you wander in and out of my kaleidescope mind
But you don’t have friends do you?
You hate the way God loves you and the way I showed you
And I can stand sad at what you have become
Your dark brown hair and your blonde highlights
But I can’t judge your plight as I have gone through it too
That is why I think God has brought me to you
Swing five times and jump on the sixth
Feed the swimming, floating, dying fish
But thank you Father for that other lady of light
That you brought to me who ran my heart cold and dry
Through that sentimental metal-detector of hope and love
And she is all I can think about tonight
And thank you for those far away angels
That love me like they love a stranger
Through that halogen glow they bless my insides
And I feel glad to know that they know my heart
So sleep now, year of the topsy-turvy
Sagging eyes and puffy sinuses
Alergic to time and lines of poetry
Sing to me time, and I will sing back
With the ants and bats and a stereotype rap
Swing low, sweet chariot and get me
And I will love your wheels and spinning spokes
And we will live happy and ever after and I will dance inside the arms of your hopes.
---good times man, some of them there are very special people noted in this poem. If you think you are one ask me and ill tell you. |
